ACHROMAT

Modern jazz, indie, progressive rock and pop meet here - focused into a multilayered, energetic sound with improvisation as its prism.
Style Modern Jazz
Influence Indie
Energy Progressive Rock
Color Pop

An achromat is a lens that brings light of different wavelengths together and focuses it into a single focal point. The Mannheim-based band achromat follows exactly this principle musically: influences from modern jazz, indie, progressive rock and pop come together - and are focused within the band’s shared sound space.

The four musicians bring their individual musical backgrounds into the group and merge them into a multilayered, energetic sound. Each concert brings out new colors: sounds are broken open live, reshaped and condensed - improvisation as a prism.

Achromat are:

  • Max Schroth – electric bass
  • Justin Zitt – piano & synthesizer
  • David Sanwald – saxophone
  • Julius Steyer – drums

Press quotes:

“Complex, but never over-intellectualized. Energetic, yet controlled. Achromat unites intellect and intuition.”
- Mannheimer Morgen

“Music like through a prism: clear, multilayered, exciting.”
- All About Jazz Germany

The self-titled debut album was released in October 2024 and has since been streamed in more than 15 countries.
